| Whitepaper shared theoretical background and key concepts in MIRROR | |
The white paper is based on continuous work in the first year of MIRROR to identify and agree on a shared set of key concepts grounded in theory on reflective learning. The concepts provide a common vocabulary across the work packages and also serve to link theory, user studies and requirements collection across our test beds. The document is based on contributions from all the scientific partners, provided through several rounds of written input and theory meetings. Based on our empirical findings in MIRROR, the set of key concepts will be refined over the course of the project. Emerging theory based on the empirical work is not presented in this white paper. | Mirror and ImREAL. A new collaboration | |
During the last months of 2011, the MIRROR-Reflective Learning at Work project started an interesting collaboration with the ImREAL- Immersive Reflective Experience-based Adaptive Learning project. ImREAL, as well as MIRROR, is a Seventh Framework Programme project with the aim of ‘developing a novel conceptual framework and innovative semantic-enhanced intelligent services to augment existing simulated environments with adaptive meta-cognitive scaffolding in a cost-effective way’. In September 2011, during the EC-TEL conference in Palermo, a workshop was organized with the aim to start a collaboration between the two project and find out some common areas of interest. At the end of the workshop, it was evident that the first main goal is to investigate how simulations created for training (ImREAL) can fit with training sessions and support reflection (MIRROR). In fact, ImREAL creates simulations, adapts and improves them in a perspective of adaptation and augumentation, while MIRROR starts where ImREAL stops, that is a deep analysis of reflection. For these reasons, a shared google docs space among the two projects was created, where interesting documents or presentations can be posted by both project teams. This might facilitate to organise joint publications or even only to keep in touch with the work packages of the other project to investigate potential alignments for the benefit of both projects. Further activities and events will be published here as soon as planned! Follow MIRROR on LinkedIn, Follow MIRROR on Twitter: also @MirrorIP |

| Microblogging in a Care Home Context | |
{jcomments on}In MIRROR we support more reflective observations by care staff through the use of microblogging – in essence each member of care staff posts each observation in real-time using a microblogging tool. Here we describe the tools and approach applied in the first year of the project. We then outline our plan for a longer and wider trial scheduled for early 2012. |
