The aim of this work package is to extend established creative problem solving methods, techniques, and tools with new techniques and tools that reinforce learning of the new knowledge generated by the creative problem solving process. The new techniques and software tools will support both individual and group creative problem solving. Reinforcement of learning should take place during the creative problem solving phase, so not to impose additional load on knowledge workers. There are 4 concrete objectives with which to deliver this aim:
- Objective 5.1: Understanding opportunities for and barriers to relfective learning during creative problem solving activities;
- Objective 5.2: Development of creative problem solving strategies that have the potential to support reflective learning;
- Objective 5.3: Integration model of reflective learning behaviour and outcomes with existing models creative problem solving;
- Objective 5.4: Development of software-based tools that support reflective learning during effective creative problem solving.
To deliver these 4 objectives the work package will extend existing techniques and tools for knowledge retrieval and creative problem solving, design and implement new learning reinforcement strategies and related social mechanisms, and integrate these results into a new software apps based on the conceptual architecture.
Results from the work package will:
- Support knowledge workers to make explicit new associations between previously unconnected facts, problems and solutions;
- Enable knowledge workers to retrieve knowledge that can both support them to solve work problems creatively and to learn effectively from this creative problem solving;
- Enable individual and co-located groups of knowledge workers to deploy creative problem solving techniques and tools to solve problems or handle new situations in a work situation;
- Enable and support the knowledge worker to learn from creative problem solving through reflection on actions/solutions and using reinforced learning strategies.
